Happy Birthday Beautiful!

Having brunch at Sons of Essex is like walking into a nightclub at noon. I haven't been to a club in a minute, but Jennifer's birthday was worth the trip back in time.

One thing I do remember about club life is the prevalence and necessity of booze.  Sons of Essex has a 'brunch cocktail' menu that features fresh ingredients like blackberry, watermelon, and lime. I honestly wanted to sample every drink on the menu, but decided that having five of The Grand Sachems was a better idea. You can't go wrong with Absolute Pear, cucumber, soda, and lemon. Refreshing!

Thank goodness carbs were on the menu.  My bagel with smoked salmon was just what I needed after "drinking like a fish" (a quote from our waiter). I sampled Mikita's Mac n Cheese Omelette and Jenn's Chilaquiles and both were amazing. However, the pinnacle of the meal were the Truffle Tater Tots. There's nothing better than a trendy, fun place that actually has good food.

It's hard to believe that Jennifer, Mikita, and I have been friends for fifteen years. Ours is a friendship made of shopping, brunches, weddings, conversations, Girls Night Outs, babies, relationships, breakups, manicures, and cocktails. Appropriately, the music was classic hip-hop that took us back to our twenties.
